PRINCIPLE

Gear pumps for oil recirculation

Gear pumps deliver a smooth, continuous flow of oil and are the natural choice for recirculating-oil and circulating lubrication. Two meshing gears draw oil in and carry it round to the outlet, producing a steady, pulsation-poor flow that suits the constant supply needed for gearboxes, bearings and circulating systems. Driven by an electric motor and fed from an integrated reservoir, the gear pump keeps oil moving through the circuit reliably — a dependable unit within DropsA's pump range, well matched to a flow controller and flow monitoring for full circulating-oil control. As the gears rotate, oil is carried in the spaces between the gear teeth and the housing from the inlet to the outlet, then pushed into the system. This gear principle gives a continuous, even flow rather than the pulses of a piston pump — ideal where a steady oil circulation is required. The pump builds the modest pressure needed to keep oil moving through the circuit and returns it to the reservoir, ready to circulate again. Smooth, continuous oil flow for recirculating systems Gear principle — pulsation-poor delivery Electric drive with integrated reservoir Handles a wide oil viscosity range (32–1000 cSt) Ideal for circulating-oil lubrication with flow control and monitoring

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about gear pumps

What is a gear pump used for?
It delivers a smooth, continuous flow of oil for recirculating-oil and circulating lubrication of gearboxes, bearings and large machinery.
Why a gear pump rather than a piston pump?
The gear principle gives a continuous, pulsation-poor flow, which suits the steady oil circulation that recirculating systems need.
What flow and pressure does it provide?
0.35 l/min at 10 bar (a 6 bar variant is available), from a 3-litre reservoir driven by a 0.09 kW single-phase motor.
Which oils can it handle?
Oil from 32 to 1000 cSt, over an operating range of +5 °C to +60 °C.
How does it fit a circulating-oil system?
It keeps oil moving through the circuit and pairs with a flow controller and flow monitoring for full control of the circulating-oil supply.
