Distributors & metering systems – the types at a glance

Distributors (metering devices) divide the lubricant delivered by the pump among the individual lubrication points and determine how much each point receives. They are the metering layer of a central lubrication system: the pump provides the lubricant, but the distributor decides where it goes and in what quantity. DropsA offers the main distribution types — progressive, dual-line and single-line bars — so the metering method can be matched to the number of points, the line lengths, the medium and the monitoring required. Choosing the right distributor is central to a reliable, efficient lubrication system.

Product families

The progressive distributor meters volumetrically and positively in sequence, is modular and self-monitoring, and is the most widely used type for many points. The dual-line system uses two alternately pressurised lines for robust supply of very many points over long distances on large plants. The Type W distributor bars hold metering valves on an aluminium bar for tidy single-line distribution, compatible with existing systems. Each suits a different scale and layout.

Applications & industries

Distributors are used across metalworking and machine building, packaging, mobile machinery and heavy industry — from small machines to large installations with hundreds of points.

Your advantages

Precise, defined metering to each lubrication point
Progressive: volumetric, sequential and self-monitoring
Dual-line: robust supply of many points over long distances
Single-line bars: tidy distribution via metering valves
For oil and grease, from small machines to large plants

Selection guidance

The right distributor is selected by the number of points, the line lengths, the medium (oil or grease), the delivery required at each point and the monitoring needed. Progressive distribution suits most machines and gives easy fault localisation; dual-line is the choice for the largest, most spread-out plants; single-line bars suit tidy distribution from metering valves. Fed by a pump and supervised by a control unit with cycle sensors, the distributor forms the metering layer of an automatic system. Our team is happy to advise.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about distributors

What does a distributor do?
It divides the lubricant delivered by the pump among the individual points and determines how much each point receives — the metering layer of a central lubrication system.
What distribution types are available?
Progressive distributors, dual-line systems and single-line distributor bars, each suited to a different scale and layout.
When is a progressive distributor the right choice?
For most machines with many points needing defined, individually set quantities and self-monitoring — it is the most widely used type.
When is a dual-line system used?
On large, spread-out plants where very many points must be supplied reliably over long distances.
How is the right distributor selected?
By the number of points, the line lengths, the medium, the delivery required at each point and the monitoring needed.
