Cam pumps

Cam pumps are piston lubrication pumps driven by a camshaft, delivering oil to the points in step with the cam's rotation. The cam actuates the pump piston on each revolution, so the pump produces a regular, repeatable supply tied directly to the drive — ideal for machines that offer a rotating shaft and need a steady, motion-led oil feed

PRINCIPLE

Cam-driven lubrication pumps

Cam pumps are piston lubrication pumps driven by a camshaft, delivering oil to the points in step with the cam's rotation. The cam actuates the pump piston on each revolution, so the pump produces a regular, repeatable supply tied directly to the drive — ideal for machines that offer a rotating shaft and need a steady, motion-led oil feed. The LT/PS series provides a robust, compact cam-driven piston pump that integrates neatly into single-line and progressive oil systems, feeding the points through standard tubing. It is a dependable building block within DropsA's pump range for machines with a suitable drive. A rotating camshaft drives the pump piston through its stroke — up to 10 mm — delivering a defined volume of oil (around 2.6 cm³) on each cycle, at up to 600 cycles per minute. The pump builds the pressure needed to move oil through the network (up to 5 bar) and feeds the points through Ø 8–10 mm tubing. Because the drive is the camshaft, the supply follows the machine's rotation, giving a continuous, demand-led oil feed without a separate motor or air supply. Camshaft-driven piston pump — supply tied to machine rotation Regular, repeatable oil delivery (about 2.6 cm³ per cycle) Up to 600 cycles per minute; up to 5 bar Feeds points through Ø 8–10 mm tubing Robust, compact LT/PS series for single-line and progressive systems

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about cam pumps

How is a cam pump driven?
By a camshaft: the cam actuates the pump piston on each revolution, delivering a defined volume of oil on every cycle in step with the machine's rotation.
What delivery and pressure does it provide?
About 2.6 cm³ per cycle at up to 600 cycles per minute and up to 5 bar, with a 10 mm stroke.
Which oils and temperatures does it handle?
Oil from 15 to 220 cSt, over an operating range of +5 °C to +60 °C.
What tubing does it use?
The points are fed through Ø 8–10 mm tubing.
Where are cam pumps used?
On machines with a rotating drive that need a steady, motion-led oil supply to guides, bearings and slideways, in single-line and progressive systems.
