Grease nipples for lubrication points

Grease nipples (lubrication nipples) are the standardised connection points through which grease is delivered to a bearing, joint or guide. They are the small, ubiquitous components that make a lubrication point accessible — whether for manual greasing with a grease gun or for connection to an automatic lubrication system . A check-valve in the nipple lets grease in and keeps it from flowing back, holding the lubricant where it is needed. Robust and inexpensive, grease nipples are part of the fittings and connection range that links the lubricant supply to the machine. The nipple is screwed or pressed into the lubrication point. Its internal check-valve opens under the pressure of the grease gun or pump and closes again afterwards, so fresh grease enters the bearing while old grease and contaminants are pushed out and back-flow is prevented. The right nipple is selected by the thread, size and the angle needed to reach the point. They are essentially maintenance-free; care is limited to keeping the nipple clean so the connection stays tight, and replacing any nipple whose check-valve no longer seals.
