FITTINGS / PROGRESSIVE DISTRIBUTOR

Progressive distributor

Progressive distributors meter lubricant to the points of a central lubrication system through replaceable dosing elements. Each element delivers a defined volume of oil or grease and, because the sections of a progressive distributor operate in sequence, the blocks supply the points one after another in a fixed, monitorable order

PRINCIPLE

Progressive distributor dosing elements

Progressive distributors meter lubricant to the points of a central lubrication system through replaceable dosing elements. Each element delivers a defined volume of oil or grease and, because the sections of a progressive distributor operate in sequence, the blocks supply the points one after another in a fixed, monitorable order. The replaceable, press-fit dosing elements make the distributor flexible: the delivery to each outlet can be set and changed by swapping elements, without replacing the whole block. For the full range and system context, see the main progressive distributor page. Inside the distributor, pistons move in sequence as lubricant is supplied under pressure. Each dosing element displaces its set volume to its outlet before passing the flow to the next element, so the points are served in a fixed order. If any point becomes blocked, the whole sequence stops — which is exactly what makes a progressive system self-monitoring: a stalled cycle, detected by a cycle sensor or indicator, points directly to the fault. Defined, individually set delivery to each outlet Replaceable, press-fit elements — change delivery without replacing the block Sequential operation makes the system self-monitoring Compatible with oil and grease A proven, flexible metering method for many points The distributor is fed by a pump and its cycle is supervised by a VIP5 control unit together with a cycle sensor or indicator, so every cycle is confirmed. The replaceable dosing elements let the metering be tuned to the machine during commissioning and re-tuned later if points are added or changed. The dosing elements are selected by the volume required at each point and the medium (oil or grease). In service the distributor is robust and low-maintenance; routine care is limited to monitoring the cycle and the usual inspection of lines and fittings. Because the system is sequential, a stalled cycle immediately localises any blockage, making maintenance fast and targeted.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about progressive distributor elements

What do progressive distributor dosing elements do?
They meter a defined volume of lubricant to each outlet of a progressive distributor; being replaceable, they let the delivery to each point be set and changed without replacing the whole block.
Why is a progressive system self-monitoring?
The elements operate in sequence, so if any point is blocked the whole cycle stops — a stalled cycle, detected by a sensor or indicator, points directly to the fault.
Can the delivery per point be changed?
Yes. The press-fit dosing elements are replaceable, so the volume to each outlet can be adjusted by swapping elements.
Which media can be used?
Both oil and grease, with the dosing elements selected to suit the medium and the required volume per point.
How is the cycle monitored?
By a cycle sensor or indicator feeding a control unit such as the VIP5, which confirms each cycle and alarms a stalled one.
