Near-dry machining is a technology that replaces conventional coolants and pure oil-flood systems in metal cutting. Instead of large quantities of cutting fluid, a controlled stream of compressed air carries a minimal amount of cutting oil as an "aerosol" directly to the cutting surface. This minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) places the lubricant exactly where it acts during cutting — and reduces consumption to a minimum. Chips and parts come off dry, and coolant, disposal and cleaning costs fall. DropsA supports near-dry machining with the MaXtreme oil and MaxClean. It is part of the lubricants range alongside the MQL systems . A metering system combines a small, exactly dosed quantity of cutting oil with compressed air to form a fine aerosol, which is delivered to the tool and the cutting zone — externally or, on suitable tools, through the spindle. Because the aerosol is drawn into the cutting process, only the oil needed is used and the machine stays largely dry. Replaces flood coolant with a minimal, precisely metered oil aerosol Dry chips and parts; cleaner working environment Lower coolant, disposal and cleaning costs Supported by MaXtreme oil and MaxClean End-to-end support from assessment to PLC integration and tooling advice Datasheet: ▸ Near-dry machining / MQL datasheet (PDF)
